To tell the truth I was wondering about a job when I left NorthPoint. It was time for Chris to step up and me to step out. That much was clear. But after 21 years in one place stepping out into nothing was scarry. I asked Karen to give me a few months to see what God was up to. She blessed me with the time and space to seek His face and His will. After only two months away from NorthPoint He is speaking and painting a crazy picture. My mind has totally shifted from making a living to managing a global ministry. Let me share.
Samuel, Suresh, and Jayraj are three brothers who pastor the Jesus Holy Church Ministry in India. Here is there method. They go through a small village and build relationships, win souls, and baptize believers. After a house church is planted they move to the next village. When ten to fifteen village house churches form in an area they buy land and build a simple facility for worship in a central town. Then they buy land and build a larger facility in the city. They also have forest churches where the men hunt for their food, and tribal churches.
They currently have 300 city, town, village, tribal, and forest church, cell, or house churchs. Here is where JumpStart joins the picture. The groups are hours of drive time apart. The pastors cannot make the rounds often. Training leaders, winning souls, and making disciples is essential. There is a sixty percent literacy rate amomg the believers, and in the broader Hindu population. We will translate JumpStart into Telugu. We will train the pastors how to do a five month one on one discipleship. Then the pastors will begin to train their people. They have approx 2,000 baptized believers and many times that in Hindu and Muslim attenders. As leaders learn JumpStart they will have a sixteen step process for making disciples and disciple makers all across this part of India. I shared the sixteen session progression with the pastors and leaders last Sunday and their question was, "When can we get this?"
I will share in the future what is happening with Spanish, Swahili, Portuguese, and Hindi. Of course there is English. Please be praying for our time in India. We are preaching and praying nonstop. It is awesome. The people are sweet, the children beautiful, and the food delicious. Pray also for the CMTA, ABCOFLASH, TM, FBC Big Bear, Fallbrook, and Trinity Baptist in Moreno Valley.
